Horsens Art Museum is a highly profiled museum with an extensive collection of Danish contemporary art.
The museum owns the largest collection of artworks by the famous Danish artist Michael Kvium, who was born and raised in Horsens. It also holds significant collections of artworks by the artists Christian Lemmerz, Erik A. Frandsen, Nina Sten-Knudsen and Lars Nørgård, who – along with Michael Kvium – were part of the Danish ‘Wild’ painting of the 1980s.
In the summer of 2017 the museum shows three exhibitions, all of which are rooted in the collection. These exhibitions consist of the big summer exhibition presenting works by Michael Kvium, the exhibition Sculptures from the collection as well as the exhibition OUR ART, which is curated by seven young people from Horsens.
The museum includes Café Andersen’s that offers lunch platters as well as cold and hot drinks. Furthermore, it is possible to buy art books, design objects, posters and postcards in the museum shop. With its location in the beautiful park Lunden (the Grove), Horsens Art Museum is always worth a visit.
